We have done our best to create an eco-friendly environment and to not only tread lightly as we build up the Casa but to support native plant species and local wildlife by planting and foster native plant growht. All wood harvested locally from wood-lots practising sustained-yield. Teak, Pocote, Cedar, Melina. Roofs are made with recycled PVC. All plants are native to Costa Rica. Grapefruit, orange, lime, lemon, Mandarine orange, Mango, Guanabana, Avocado, Lychee, Guyaba, Banana, plantain, and carob trees. The blooms and scents attract the hummingbirds of our namesake and surround the property day and night with their soft fragrance.
Our New Offering: The Bird House. On the highest part of the property, overlooking the lush fruit trees and floral gardens, watch the flocks of parrots in the valley from above. The most spectacular sunsets are the norm, but your breakfast in the open air will be just as precious. The Bird House is a one-bedroom cabin, with open air living and dinning areas, a galley kitchen, queen size four-post bed with custom netting, spacious bathroom with soaking tub, laundry, and private patio.
Colibri is the Spanish word for hummingbird. Why name our property after those gorgeous gravity defying creatures? Thanks to the lush native plant gardens -- with 25 different species of hibuscus, six fragrant ylang ylang trees, vibrant ginger plants and more -- you can't go five minutes without seeing a hummingbird at this tropical oasis.
